Bridgwater Site Receives Blessing for Skeletal Remains

The site team for the new 4* Mercure Hotel in Bridgwater attended a Service of Blessing after historical human remains were found on site.

Reverend Lis Sparrow of St John's Church attended site last week to make the blessing for the 34 skeletons that were removed from the site in August. The archaeologist has dated them from the fourteenth century.

Archaeologists made the find during the demolition phase and specialist persons were appointed for the removal and transportation of the remains.

A cross made in reinforcement and set in a concrete block will be kept at the church until the remains are placed in their new resting place.

Work is progressing well and is currently in the early groundwork stage.
