MALPAS COURT

WRW carried out the complete renovation of Malpas Court in Newport which is a Grade II Listed Building dating from 1834.

We have a great appreciation for the built environment and share CADW’s views regarding heritage and the conservation of historical buildings. This project was carried out in conjunction with CADW’s specific requirements and was Winner of Newport City Council’s LABC Conservation Excellence award 2008 along with the LABC ‘Commercial Conversion’ award 2008.

The internal works involved the reinstatement of the floors, grand staircase, fire places, new plaster and intricate decorative mouldings, repairs, replacement and upgrading of joinery and new mechanical and electrical services throughout including the provision of a lift access.

The external works involved the refurbishment of the building envelope including the roof, chimney, windows and doors. The external stone walls were delicately cleaned in order to avoid damage and to preserve the buildings original character. In addition to the refurbishment works the project also involved re-landscaping and provision of new footpaths around the building making the building compliant with existing building regulations.
