SWANSEA UNIVERSITY ILS1 ALTERATIONS

The project involved the internal alterations and fit-out of the ground floor foyer and part first floor offices and atrium of the Institute of Life Science Building at Swansea University.

The building is located on the south west of the University’s Singleton Campus close to Singleton Hospital. It was constructed in 2007 and comprises of a seven-storey, steel framed structure clad in aluminium and glazed curtain walling. The building provides various types of accommodation, including research laboratories, a cafe, commercial offices, conference space and medical research facilities.

The building iss heavily serviced including a sophisticated building management system and ground source heat pumps.

The College of Medicine wanted to provide a facility within the building to promote studies, training and research into Bioinformatics.
