THIRD LIBRARY REFURBISHMENT

WRW were awarded this project at the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth which has seen the much needed refurbishment of the Grade II Listed Third Library Building after it suffered major fire damage in 2013.

The Library undertook emergency protection works following the fire to restore the roof and upper floors. This project, split into two phases, has seen the five floors of offices below restored together with a new staff entrance on the lower ground floor and full refurbishment of the Atrium.

The Library is a publicly accessible resource and continued to be used throughout the duration of the project. The fourth floor of the Third Library Building was occupied by Library staff.

Relevant public safety measures were put in place to ensure that adequate protection to routes and areas accessible to staff and public was provided and that high risk areas were screened off.
