YSGOL MELIN GRUFFYDD

The project involved the design and construction of a new extension together with substantial alterations and refurbishment works to the existing school building.

The site is situated at the existing Eglwys Newydd English Medium Primary School and works were carried out in phases to allow the school to remain operational throughout the contract.

On completion Eglwys Newydd moved to a new site and Ysgol Melin Gruffydd transferred to these new premises as a two from entry Welsh Medium Primary School with nursery.

The project also included new hard paved games court areas and associated external works.

Provision and removal of three new demountable units comprising two double classrooms and a standalone nursery to facilitate transition during construction also formed part of the contract.

We maintained constant liaison with the School to ensure all pupils and staff were informed of work progress and how they were being kept safe.

We provided safety briefings to the pupils to inform them of the dangers associated with straying onto construction sites.

Works were securely segregated from building users with timber hoarding and we provided clearly signposted designated walkways.
