The project involves the design and construction of 33 affordable flats on the site of the Aberystwyth Football Ground.
The flats consist of a mixture of one and two-bedroom and the development includes undercroft parking and hard and soft landscaping improvements to the Riverside Walk.
The site is located within the grounds of Aberystwyth Town Football Club on the former Astroturf pitch to the rear of the Rhun Owens Stand. It is adjacent to the Riverside Walk which runs along the northern side of the River Rheidol close to the centre of Aberystwyth.
All apartments have balconies with patio doors to allow generous levels of daylight into the apartments. Two-thirds of the apartments have either a riverside or town view, with the remaining 12 apartments looking out over the football ground. A new floodlighting scheme is proposed to minimise light overspill into the apartments, and high acoustic performance windows will be installed to deal with unwanted noise during match days.
The layout has been carefully designed to work with the narrow site, with the apartments arranged on 3 floors with an additional ground floor undercroft car park to mitigate the risk from tidal flooding from the river.
