New build

The project involves the design and construction of 33 affordable housing units together with associated infrastructure drainage and external services. The site is the former Johnston Primary School which has been demolished to make way for this new development.

The scheme is the first new Council housing development undertaken in over 25 years. The units will consist of 12 flats, 6 bungalows and 15 houses aimed to provide high-quality, affordable residential housing to meet the needs of local people.

It is the Council’s full intention to procure houses that are of a similar or higher quality to current local Housing Association developments in terms of energy consumption and space standards. All units will have an EPC A Rating and car parking charge points. Three of the houses will incorporate Teslar Powerwalls.

The scheme has been designed in accordance with the Welsh Government’s Design Quality Requirements which also include Lifetime Homes Standards, RNIB Standards, and Secured By Design.
