The project comprised the design and construction of the Gellideg Wellbeing Centre in Merthyr Tydfil. The Centre is a contemporary community facility in the heart of the Gellideg estate and provides 21st-century facilities to support The Gellideg Foundation Group’s ‘Wellbeing’ Agenda.
The new Centre includes; a multi-purpose entrance space, conference and training facilities, offices, pre-school facilities, community hall, ‘chill-out’ area, courtyard and outdoor space.
The proposals took a holistic approach to design, incorporating a comprehensive landscaping scheme that was devised to create usable and valuable public space on the estate.
This building will be owned by the community and be a space where people can come together to volunteer, learn, exercise, be creative, connect and develop emotional resilience.
The Wellbeing Centre was designed and constructed to Passivhaus standards in order to deliver a high energy efficient building with optimum user comfort levels.
