Overview

This redevelopment of Oldway House in Swansea City Centre provides 556 new en-suite student bedrooms to house the city’s growing student population.

The existing 13-storey RC frame office block sits opposite the railway station between Orchard Street and High Street and works involved the construction of an additional two storeys to the block.

The accommodation includes 12 studios and the remainder cluster flat bedrooms. Communal facilities include a management area, show accommodation, common rooms, laundrette and a ground floor retail unit. The development features a private courtyard with bicycle storage and dedicated communal areas to encourage collaborative working and socialising.

The site was surrounded by commercial and residential buildings which were mostly occupied during the construction works. Alexandra House which adjoins the site is a live office building that was occupied for the duration of the project.
