WRW was appointed to carry out the construction of the Strategic Coordination Centre in Carmarthen for Dyfed Powys Police. The development comprised the construction of a three-story building with provision of a new access road joining the existing main road, car parking and associated surface water drainage, extensive re-profiling of the site to achieve appropriate formation-level together with the delivery of new utility services.
The facility was purpose-built to enable Dyfed Powys Police to coordinate an effective response to all civil emergencies in Wales. The building was designed and constructed to accommodate multiple agencies and to provide a flexible series of spaces to be occupied and worked in during an emergency. This was achieved by providing largely open plan rooms which could be adjusted quickly by utilising transferrable partition walling systems.
The building was designed and built to accommodate a number of innovative sustainable technologies including:
- Air Sourced Heat Pump
- Underfloor Heating System
- Rainwater Harvesting System
- Solar Shading (Birse Soleil)
- Integrated Building Management System (BMS)
