Overview

The new Sunnyside Wellness Village is a housing and healthcare development on the site of the old Sunnyside council offices and magistrates court in Bridgend.

A collaboration between Linc Cymru Housing Association and the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board, the development involves the design and construction of 59 new homes and a Health Centre together with associated landscape and connecting infrastructure.

The three-storey health centre will house a GP practice, pharmacy, specialist dentist unit, and various Clinics. The plans include a mixed tenure of two, three, and four-bedroom terrace houses as well as a small terrace of one and two-bedroom bungalows, designed for people with disabilities. The site also includes a three-storey apartment block with one and two-bedroom self-contained flats.

All homes are designed to be DQR compliant and meet Lifetime Homesguidance. The new Health Centre has been designed to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. The scheme is designed using fabric first principles with MVHR to all housing units and connection to the Bridgend Local District Heating Network to achieve high levels of energy efficiency.
