The new Teaching and learning building for the Carmarthen Campus of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David was designed as an iconic building to meet the future education needs of the University and provides modern and updated facilities for students and staff of the University.
The building also provides the opportunity to further enhance the partnership agreements with other educational establishments and for community events.
The building is formed in two wings, the first at a height of three storeys and the other two storeys high.
The site was predominantly ‘greenfield’ and located opposite the main campus.
In order to distinguish the new development, the new building and external works were seen as an opportunity to enhance the entrance and provide a new heart or focal point to the existing collection of buildings.
The building is the new home for the Research & Development Unit and the West Wales European Centre and also provides general teaching spaces which are used by other Faculties, including the School of Education Studies.
